Schwenkfeldian

The Schwenkfeldian is the tri-annually published church magazine. It is a record of Schwenkfelder events and topics related to Caspar Schwenckfeld, Schwenkfelders past and present and Pennsylvania German culture.

The Schwenkfeldian is currently published during the Winter, Spring and Fall quarters of each year by the General Conference of the Schwenkfelder Church, under the direction of the Publication Committee, in the interest of the current churches. Published regularly since December of 1903, it is a record of Schwenkfelder events and topics related to Caspar Schwenckfeld, the Schwenkfelders past and present, and the culture of the Schwenkfelder denomination.

Along with summaries of events in each of the churches, it provides notes on births, deaths and marriages within the denomination, stories and biographies, photographs, and minutes and details from General Conference meetings. With only 10 editors since the first edition, it is the only ongoing record of Schwenkfelder activities in Southeast Pennsylvania and elsewhere.

While material presented in the magazine does not necessarily represent all beliefs and teachings of Caspar Schwenckfeld or the Schwenkfelder Church, articles are intended to stimulate thought and create a deeper understanding of those beliefs and teachings. It should be noted that common practice of the Schwenkfelder Church to insert the letter “c” before the letter “k” when referring to the Reformer Caspar Schwenckfeld. The Church or a parishioner is always written as Schwenkfelder.
